RECREATIONAL GYMNASTICS CLASSES


OUR GYMNASTICS CLASSES RUN TYPICALLY AS FOLLOWS:


WARM UP

LINES/GROUP EXERCISE - THE FUNDAMENTAL GYMNASTICS SKILLS THAT NEED WORKING ON EVERY SESSION.

GROUP WORK - THE CLASS WILL SPLIT INTO SMALLER GROUPS USUALLY COLOUR CODED GROUPS SET FOR ABILITY NEEDS. THEY GO AROUND A CIRCUIT WORKING ON EITHER STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY OR TUMBLING SKILLS. WE ALSO HAVE BADGE WEEK AND ACRO TASTER SESSIONS.

FUN TIME - GYMNASTS WILL THEN GET TO USE TRAMPETTE, BOX, BEAMS TO DO FUN SKILLS AND POSTURE WORK

CONDITIONING - WE DO SOME LIGHT CARDIO WORK AND SAFE STRENGTH BUILDING EXERCISES.

FLEXIBILITY - WE DO VERY SIMPLE STRETCHING SUCH AS SPLITS AND BRIDGE BEFORE GYMNASTS GO HOME.


WE ALSO WORK TO THE BRITISH GYMNASTICS BADGE SCHEMES AND WE DO INTRODUCE THE GYMNASTS TO SPORTS ACROBATICS BUT AT A VERY LOW LEVEL.

BEGINNERS GYMNASTICS

BEGINNERS/ NOVICE GYMNASTICS


OUR BEGINERS CLASSES AIM TO INTRODUCE GYMNASTICS TO OUR YOUNGEST MEMBERS. THEY WILL LEARN THE BASIC SKILLS AND WILL DEVELOP A GOOD SENSE OF BODY AWARENESS. OUR CLASSES ALSO ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO SOCIALISE AND LEARN HOW TO WORK TOGETHER, AS WELL AS TEACHING THEM SKILLS THAT THEY WILL NEED FOR NURSERY AND SCHOOL SUCH AS LISTENING TO AND FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS, LINING UP ETC.

OUR NOVICE CLASSES ARE FOR SLIGHTLY OLDER BEGINNERS AND ARE THE NEXT STEP FOR THOSE IN THE BEGINNERS CLASSES. AGAIN WE TEACH ALL THE BASIC GYMNASTICS SKILLS AND START ADDING TO THEM. WE USE A LOT OF EQUIPMENT TO HELP AID THE GYMNASTS. THE GYMNASTS WILL ALSO COMPLETE BADGE WORK, THE GYMNASTICS SCHEME AND SOME VERY BASIC ACRO IN THESE CLASSES.

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCES GYMNASTICS CLASSES

INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCED CLASSES


THESE CLASSES ARE FOR EXPERIENCED GYMNASTS AND ARE THE NEXT STEP FOR THOSE WHO ARE READY TO MOVE UP A CLASS FROM NOVICE. WE WOULD EXPECT GYMNASTS TO HAVE ALL THE BASIC SKILLS AND WOULD THEN BE TEACHING THEM MORE ADVANCED INDIVIDUAL SKILLS. MOST OF GYMNASTS IN THESE CLASSES WILL HAVE PASSED ALL THEIR BADGES BUT WE DO STILL WORK WITH THOSE WHO HAVE NOT TO COMPLETE THE SCHEME.

BOYS ONLY GYMNASTICS CLASSES


OUR BOYS GYMNASTICS IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY POPULAR AND SO WE HAVE DECIDED TO SPLIT THIS CLASS INTO 2 SESSIONS WITH AN ADANCED AND A NOVICE BOYS CLASS. BOTH CLASSES TEACH THE BASIC GYMNASTICS SKILLS AND ARE TAILORED TO KEEP ENERGETIC BOYS OCCUPIED AND ENGAGED. AGAIN THE BOYS WORK TO THE BRITISH GYMNASTICS BADGE SCHEME AND INTERNAL GYM SCHEME.

MY CLUB IS PERFECT FOR THE OLDER MEMBER WHO WANTS TO LEARN GYMNASTICS BUT IN A MORE LAID BACK ENVIRONMENT. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN LEARNING AND CAN CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO WORK ON EACH WEEK. FULLY QUALIFIED COACHES ARE SUPERVISING TO TEACH SKILLS AND OVERSEE THE CLASS. YOU CAN LEARN A RANGE OF GYMNASTICS DISCIPLINES FROM FLOOR WORK, BEAM, TUMBLING, ACRO AND MORE.

All classes are mixed ability and ages, catering for young children and  teenagers wanting to keep fit.  
All members are affiliated and insured with The British Gymnastics Association. We work towards The British Gymnastics award scheme and badges.

THE ACRO SQUAD

Acrobatic Gymnastics (previously called Sport Acrobatics and nicknamed "Acro") is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform routines consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music. Gymnasts perform three routines; a 'balance' routine where the focus is on strength, poise and flexibility; a 'dynamic' routine which includes throws, somersaults and catches, and (Only level 6 and above) a 'combined' routine which includes elements from balance and dynamic.
Acrobatic gymnasts perform in pairs or groups and enter into and are judged at a specific level or age group category. In each partnership, the gymnasts' different sizes and abilities will be balanced to complement each other in order to carry out the complex moves. Some will mainly carry out supporting and pitching (throwing) roles, and are known as bases. They are then balanced with smaller, often more flexible, gymnasts who become the 'tops'. The different partnerships seen in competition are:
women's pair (two females)
men's pair (two males)
mixed pair (a male base and a female top)
women's group (three females)
men's group (four males)
In competition, partnerships perform a routine to music, that has usually been choreographed specifically for them. The gymnasts carry out their acrobatic moves and combine them with dance, all in time to and in keeping with the style of the music. Partnerships are judged on artistry, difficulty of skill and the execution of skills.

PRE SCHOOL

THIS IS A FUN AND EXCITING CLASS THAT COMBINES GYMNASTICS AND TRAMPOLINING. RUN BY QUALIFIED COACHES, CHILDREN WILL BE INTRODUCED TO BASIC GYMNASTICS AND TRAMPOLINING SKILLS. PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO HELP THEIR CHILD IN USING THE EQUIPMENT AND SPOTTING BY THE TRAMPOLINE. EACH MONTH HAS A THEME THAT THE CHILDREN CARRY THROUGH THE WARM UP, GYMNASTICS AND EXPLORING TIME. THEY WILL THEN RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE AT THE END OF THE MONTH CONGRATULATING THEM ON PASSING THAT MONTHS THEME. EACH CLASS ALSO ENDS WITH SONG TIME WHERE THE CHILDREN WILL SING ALONG AND LEARN A SHORT SEQUENCE OF ACTIONS (development of memory training and rhythm)

WANT TO TONE UP, GET FIT, LOSE WEIGHT, INCREASE YOUR FELXIBILITY, BUILD MUSCLE OR JUST LEARN NEW TRICKS? IF SO, THEN OUR ADULTS GYMNASTICS CLASS IS JUST WHAT YOU NEED. WE ARE OFFERING A CLASS TO ALL RETIRED GYMNASTS AND ADULTS THAT WILL TEACH YOU THE PROPER GYMNASTICS SKILLS THAT YOU WANT TO LEARN AND ALSO IMPROVE YOUR PHYSIQUE AND FITNESS. MOST ADULTS GYMNASTICS CLASSES CONSIST OF STRETCHING AND LIGHT MUSCLE WORK, WE HOWEVER WANT TO OFFER THAT AND A LOAD MORE. RELIVE YOUR CHILDHOOD AND LEARN THE SPLITS, HANDSTANDS, CARTWHEELS AND MANY MORE SKILLS. THIS CLASS IS SET TO BE A GOOD LAUGH AND LOTS OF FUN! DONT MISS OUT.

Freestyle sports are dynamic and exciting, gaining popularity within the UK for providing participants with the ability to express themselves creatively through movement and an incredible range of tricks. To help capture the power and explosive nature of freestyle, British Gymnastics has developed a new club-based activity called FreeG, which comes indoors and introduces a range of freestyle-specific equipment and training techniques to take your trick learning, to a new level.


FreeG fuses traditional gymnastic and acrobatic tricks, with kicks and leaps made famous through martial arts and brought to worldwide attention by festival performers and stunt actors.


FreeG gets your body moving in ways never thought possible. It will get your heart racing and develop a heightened sense of spatial awareness that can be put to good use in a variety of other sports (including boarding, biking, skiing, climbing and surfing.)

SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND EXTRA CURRICULUM

School sessions run either after of during school hours. These sessions can be delivered either at our purpose equipped centre or at the school site.

Whole class sessions available for any school and any ability.


Idea for gifted and talented programmes/ GCSE groups or for those who wish to participate in the sport as an extra curriculum activity to enhance a healthy well being.

Head Coach is trained to secondary school PE Teacher so the curriculum delivery can be created to support the schools schemes of work and learning needs.

Learning objectives are set for three areas of learning (all, most and some) so that all participants are challenged yet achieve at their own pace.
